In a 30-minute address to the nation, PM Modi calls on citizens to be prepared to combat challenges posed by a viral outbreak, emphasizes the need for ‘social distancing’ and asks businesses to act with empathy towards workers. He said the Janata Curfew will be observed on March 22 between 7 am and 9 pm, comparing it to blackouts during wartime.
Addressing the nation, PM Narendra Modi made an appeal to people across India. He urged all countrymen to follow ‘Janata Curfew’ on Sunday, 22nd March, from 7 AM to 9 PM.
PM Modi urged people not to move out of their homes on 22nd March. He also urged the state governments, organizations like the NCC and NSS, which are led by youth, civil society, and other organizations to actively encourage citizens to follow ‘Janata Curfew’ and stay inside their homes.
PM Modi also urged everyone to call and inform at least 10 other people every day about the ‘Janata Curfew’ as well as the measures to prevent the spreading of Coronavirus.
PM Modi also made a special request while observing ‘Janata Curfew’.
PM Modi asked all citizens to take part in thanking all the medical fraternity, who have been working day in and out at hospitals and public places like airports.
PM Modi requested all citizens to applaud the services extended by airlines’ staff, the cleanliness staff, those who deliver food, those who drive railways, bus or autorickshaws, government officials, policemen, and the media. Terming them as ‘Rashtra Rakshaks’, PM Modi said that the country was indebted to its services. PM Modi urged citizens to stand in the balconies at 5 PM on 22nd March and clap for five minutes to express gratitude to such people.
