Not Yet Linking Your PAN–Aadhaar Complete before 31st March

The Income Tax (IT) Department of India, today, asked all the Permanent Account Number (PAN) holders to link their 10 digit alphanumeric number with their Aadhaar card before the 1st of April 2020.

Update from Income Tax India Twitter Post on 16th March 2020 said:

Don’t miss the deadline!
It is mandatory to link your PAN and Aadhaar before 31st March 2020.
You can do it through Biometric Aadhaar authentication & also by visiting the PAN service centers of NSDL and UTITSL.

Entities who are uncomfortable doing it online can do it in person as well by going to the PAN Service Centres of NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited) and UTITSL (UTI Infrastructure Technology And Services Limited).

All the PAN cardholders that are not linked to the Aadhaar by 31st March 2020 will be declared as “inoperative”.

The IT Department, today, tweeted saying, “It is mandatory to link your PAN and Aadhaar before 31st March 2020. You can do it through Biometric Aadhaar authentication & also by visiting the PAN service centers of NSDL and UTITSL”.

The tweet had a video attached with the message which said that such a linking is for a “beneficial tomorrow”.

The video said that there are 2 ways one can complete this task:

Send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 in the format: UIDPAN 12Digit Aadhaar 10 Digit PAN

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), which frames the policies for the IT Department extended the deadline for the linking of PAN with Aadhaar for the 8th time last year on the 30th December.
